Plala Networks, Inc.

Plala to provide account aggregation service Agurippa to portal site "goo"-first implementation on a portal site follows usage by financial services

Plala Networks, Inc. (Koji Bandou, CEO; HQ: Toshima-ku, Tokyo), operator of Internet provider Plala (http://www.plala.or.jp/access/) has provided its account aggregation service (see note 1) Agurippa (http://agurippa.com) to NTT-X, Inc.fs (Takao Nakajima, CEO; HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) Internet portal site ggooh (http://www.goo.ne.jp) as an application service provider. The service offering on the site began December 2 under the brand ggoo Passbook and Statementsh. This is the first test of the service on a portal site.

‚PDBackground

The account aggregation service Agurippa refers to the provision of the gINFOBONDh system developed by NTT East Corporation (Satoru Miura, CEO; HQ: Shinjuku, Tokyo) by Plala Networks Inc. as an application service provider. Currently, due to the proliferation of the Internet and the spread of broadband, the number of users of online services such as banking, brokerage, or other financial services and e-commerce services is rapidly increasing. Agurippa, which allows information from these various services to be provided in aggregated format, can benefit companies by making possible the development of various services and strengthening the ability of their sites to attract new users through the provision of one-stop services and use of the service as a marketing tool. The end user in turn is liberated from the annoyance of entering usernames and passwords for each online service and provided with a tool for effectively managing, in one location, a wide variety of personal information, including information on financial assets ranging from the household budget to banking and brokerage accounts.

Beginning on November 11 of this year, Japan Net Bank, Limited (Shuichi Fujimori, CEO; HQ: Shinjuku, Tokyo) has utilized Agurippa to become the first bank in Japan to offer an account aggregation service which it calls gJNB Aggregationh (http://www.japannetbank.co.jp) and is already seeing a response.

‚QDAbout the implementation on "goo"

With the recognition of the effectiveness of the Internet for gathering and searching information and with the improvement of the Internet skills of home users, content related closely with daily life is now being sought. ggooh, as a greal life portal siteh, is working to become a highly usable site by offering practical daily-life information and features. This usage of Agurippa draws attention to the usefulness of the Internet for daily life and represents progress in the adoption of the service.

The provision of the account aggregation service goo Passbook and Statements on goo, which is already known by the public as a search service, is expected to lead to an increase in the frequency that users access the Internet from their homes. It is also expected to provide an opportunity for the development of a new category of Internet use related to everyday life, and to lead to the infiltration of account aggregation services among home users. Additionally, infiltration among home users is also expected to provide future opportunities for companies involved in account aggregation to grow their customer base.

‚RDAbout the provision of Agurippa

The use of Agurippa for JNB Aggregation and for goo Passbook and Statements represents a successful implementation of a B2B2C (Business to Business to Consumer) business model where a service is provided to end users through the business transactions between two companies. Following on the growth of the home-user class of customers, as a next step they are considering expansion into shopping sites where there is even greater proximity to consumer behavior. In the future, while they will continue to base their business in this B2B2C model, they will be exploring various other offering models in keeping with the increasing penetration of account aggregation services. In addition, the number of partners providing information on the various sites is steadily increasing, and they will continue to improve the content by offering a variety of information gained through the participation of companies from different industries.

‚SDAdditional information

Beginning in January 2003, they plan to implement an Alert Mail feature that sends an email notice when conditions pre-set by the user are met. New added features will, as appropriate, be provided also on sites that are currently offering the service.

In addition to these, other improvements and additions will be implemented including an improvement to the user interface, an Auto Login feature which uses authentification information registered with the site to make the login to various companiesf sites automatic, and a communication tool that fits well with this broadband age by making real-time consultations possible.
